This spring marks the debut of two new publishers, ReferencePoint Press (headed up by Dan Leone, former CEO of Lucent and Greenhaven) and Erickson Press. The launch of these two small publishers offers a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes workings of this segment of the industry, as both have received editorial input from Bow Publications, a brand-new packager—the industry term for a company that develops books for a publisher client. Bow’s cofounders, Bonnie Szumski and Nancy Stetzinger, boast pedigrees that should make series purchasers take notice: Szumski helped develop the venerable Opposing Viewpoints series at Greenhaven, and Stetzinger’s experience includes stints at Follett, Millbrook, and Thomson.
